Systemic solutions based in fisheries: Targeting marine litter sources in the Gulf of Mannar and Palk Strait

This is a cross-disciplinary project, containing research, awareness building and policy advisory aspects
to enable a structured and targeted approach to limit marine plastic pollution from fisheries and ocean
related industries. This partnership contains participants from diverse disciplines to identify solutions,
organize dialogue processes, and implement practical pilots for reducing plastic pollution from fisheries
surrounding the Gulf of Mannar. The overall goal of this project is to reduce the amount of marine litter
deriving from the fishing industry within the Gulf of Mannar and the southern section of the Palk Bay.
